PosDes + Speakeasy Brewery Present: Terry Malts, Uzi Rash, Synthetic I.D., Yi

We are honored to present one of the arguably tightest live bands in the world at the moment, San Francisco’s very own Terry Malts, Saturday May 26th performing live at another esteemed SF institution – Speakeasy Ales & Lagers Brewery. The Malts will be joined by a fantastic supporting local line-up: Oakland’s Uzi Rash, punk outfit Synthetic I.D., and Yi.

Our buds at Speakeasy have made it possible for this to be a free + all ages event and will be showcasing some of their own brews during the event. Doors at 4pm. RSVP for the afternoon show here.

Ty Segall playing free show Friday @ UC Berkeley

A month after Thee Oh Sees pre-emptively shut down UC Berkeley’s Sproul Plaza, SUPERB has announced another free afternoon concert, this time with Ty Segall joining Crystal Antlers at Sproul Plaza this Friday at 5pm. RSVP at the Facebook event here. Hat tip: SFitall. Why didn’t they have this shit when I was still in school?

Grace Woodroofe, James & Evander playing free show tonight @ Brick and Mortar

The hardworking Wood Shoppe crew — who have already put together two stellar, free shows with some of our favorite bands (Wet Illustrated, Blasted Canyons and Burnt Ones) — have slotted a special performance tonight at Brick and Mortar Music Hall with Grace Woodroofe, James and Evander, & U.S. Royalty. I’ll be spinning tunes early on, so make sure to come hang. Doors at 8, show at 9 and drink specials somewhere under both those numbers. RSVP here. Watch a short promo video for the last show below:

Anything else?

listen: Grass Widow // “Disappearing Industries”

Gorilla vs Bear just premiered the ripping new single from Grass Widow‘s 7″ split with Nature, out next month on M’lady’s Records:

Disappearing Industries” is one of the best things the band’s ever done, elevated by the girls’ signature bright, exuberant 3-part harmonies and their deceptive, winding, always super catchy melodies.

One of our pieces I’m most proud of was our interview with the trio back in July. Check it out here. Watch Hannah and crew perform “Milo Minute” for a bunch of gorillas here.

Grass Widow plays a free show tonight at the Uptown in Oakland that everyone should be going to, with Culture Kids, Churches, and Wave Array. RSVP here.

giveaway: Manatee’s “Single Payer Class War” (playing Sat)

Like free stuff? Our friends at Slumberland Records have graciously sent us Oakland-based Manatee‘s debut 7″ flexi release, “Single Payer Class War“, available here. There’s a palpable Terry Malts-esque gauze wrapped around the A-side track, entitled “Mr. Super” and streamable below.

To enter to win the 7″ flexi disc, hit us up at pdgiveaway at gmail dot com with the subject line MANATEE with your first and last name and we’ll pick a winner at random.
